Awesome dining experience!Came here for a quick bite with my pops for his birthday! Decided to order the Beef Brisket with Corn pudding and Mac n’ Cheese. AMAZING!My pops had a lamb burger with a side of fries! I tried to get him a larger platter, but he wasn’t too hungry. Next time!After cleaning our plates we washed the meal down with a Mango Margarita and a Corona (with lime!).Great service from the bartender! They even have a bowl of treats upstairs for you to snack while waiting.10/10 Highly Recommend!

This place is a vibe! It’s a super small and cozy atmosphere and the music was on point. The food is amazing! I’d eat everything on the menu. They have the perfect fry, full bar and the price point is right. I highly recommend Charlene’s. It’s the one with the neon “open” sign.

Great food, we had a bunch of different dishes and everything was great. Though the brisket was definitely the stand out meal, perfectly cooked and tender. Definitely will try to come back every time I visit DC.

Listen. This food was fantastic. I love soul food and have been to many a soul food spot. This was the best cabbage and greens I've ever had. And my daughter said the wings were divine. And Charlene herself came out and showed love. Def check this joint out.

Mac and cheese is to die for!Cornbread is DELICIOUS!! Fried Croaker is the best I've ever tasted!Customer service is SWEET!Drinks are strong!What more can I say?!?!I'm gonna sleep good tonight!

Had an awesome time at Charlene s Bar & Grill!Food was excellent! ! Everyone ordered something different and was not disappointed. Short Ribs, cabbage, brisket, wings , shrimp and much more! Place is small but it accommodated all 17 of us!Jessica was the only server and she took excellent care of us.If you have health issues and can’t climb stairs order for pickup, it is well worth it! Located right in the heart of Howard University!

Visiting from Atlanta and I had to come to Charlene's. I heard great things about it, and the reviews really had me anticipating my visit! It. Did. Not. Dissapoint! This is southern cooking at its finest. I had the smoked wings which were so tasty, brisket egg rolls were fire. For my entree I had Mac and cheese, collard greens, and salmon cakes...AMAZING. Definitely top 5 list of places you must eat in DC.
